PEI Rape and Sexual Assault Centre (PEIRSAC) is a feminist, pro-choice, not-for-profit organization that has been providing services in Prince Edward Island since 1983. Our mission is to provide high-quality, trauma-informed services to those affected by sexualized violence while advancing gender equity and social justice. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive community rooted in feminist and anti-oppressive principles.

The PEI Rape and Sexual Assault Centre (PEIRSAC) is seeking a Sexual Assault Awareness Week Support Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of Sexual Assault Awareness Week 2026 programming across Prince Edward Island.
Working Collaboratively with PEIRSAC staff and the Sexual Assaut Prevention Advisory Group (SAPAG), this role will support community outreach, event coordination, sponsorship outreach, partnership development, logistics, and public engagement initiatives connected to Sexual Assault Awareness Week 2026.
The 2026 theme explores Consent, Power, & Pop Culture, including how media, social platforms, celebrity culture, and public conversations shape understandings of sexual and gender-based violence. This position is well-suited to someone who enjoys community-based work, collaborative planning, and balancing both logistical coordination and relationship building.

Who We Are
The PEI Rape and Sexual Assault Centre (PEIRSAC) is a feminist, survivor-centered non-profit organization serving people aged 12 and older across Prince Edward Island who have experienced recent or historic sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse. All therapeutic services are provided at no cost.
Together, we can build a safer, more equitable community for survivors.
PEIRSAC is seeking passionate, feminist community leaders to join our Board of Directors.
PEIRSAC works to support survivors of sexual violence across Prince Edward Island through advocacy, education, and trauma-informed services. Our Board plays a critical role in guiding the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of the organization.
We are looking for individuals who:
Are committed to feminist values and social justice
Are passionate about supporting survivors of sexual violence
Bring strategic thinking, governance experience, or community leadership
Are interested in strengthening fundraising, advocacy, and community partnerships
Board Member Responsibilities:
Attend monthly board meetings (time commitment approximately 4 to 6 hours a month)
Participate in at least one board committee
Support the organization’s strategic priorities and governance
Attend relevant community events and represent PEIRSAC when appropriate
Contribute to fundraising and resource development efforts
Serving on the PEIRSAC Board is an opportunity to contribute your skills, connect with a committed group of feminist leaders, and help strengthen support for survivors across Prince Edward Island.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a trauma therapist who is grounded in anti-oppressive frameworks and who values collective care, curiosity, and ethical relationship-building. You don’t need to know everything, but you must be deeply committed to showing up for survivors, your coworkers, and yourself.
This role might be for you if you
Know that healing work is political, relational, and not one-size-fits-all
Can hold grief, rage, resistance, and joy without rushing to “fix”
Believe rest, boundaries, and consent apply to staff, too
Are willing to stay in hard conversations with care
See therapy not only as a service, but as a space to challenge oppressive systems
Qualifications
Education: A master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology/Counselling education, Mental Health Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, or equivalent with current or eligible registration with the appropriate professional body.
Clinical Experience: Minimum two years of providing one-on-one therapy, preferably with survivors of sexualized violence and individuals living with complex trauma, dissociation, and attachment disruptions.
Critical Analysis of Social Factors: Strong critical analysis of social and cultural factors contributing to sexualized violence and child abuse, with a commitment to anti-oppressive, decolonizing, pro-choice, and feminist practice.
Therapeutic Modalities: Experience with or interest in Feminist Narrative, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, CPT, and other body and justice-based approaches.
