The main doors to the building open automatically. 

The office is equipped with an automatic door, with the button located to the left of the front door. 

Most forms that require client signatures are printed in 14 pt font. Documents can also be read out to you by your service provider. 

Offices tend to be dimly lit with lamps instead of overhead lighting. Staff can turn overhead lights on if requested. 

If taking the stairs, there are approximately 24 steps from the main floor to the second floor, where PEIRSAC is located.

You can have an ASL interpreter join you for your appointment(s). If you need assistance in finding an interpreter, please reach out so we can try to assist you.

The elevator is located on the opposite side of the building to our office. Upon exiting the elevator, it is an approximate 75 meter distance to the office.

Our hallway is wide enough for the use of mobility aids. 

Some individual therapy offices may not be able to accommodate some mobility aids. If that occurs, an alternate space in the office will be used for appointments. 

There is a washroom that has a large stall to accommodate a wheelchair or walker. This stall has a metal grab bar next to the toilet.  

The door to enter the washroom is not yet automatic, so assistance may be needed to enter/exit the washroom. 

The seating in most Therapist and Navigator offices are couches or loveseats.  

The seating in the waiting room is upholstered vinyl chairs with arms. Chairs can be moved to accommodate a wheelchair. 

Appointments can take place in person or virtually. 

Registered service dogs are always welcome and are not subject to advance notice. This is protected under accessibility and human rights legislation.  

We welcome all service dogs/emotional support animals in our space. Survivors can bring a support animal with them to their appointment. Please communicate this before coming for services. 

We also recognize that there are many survivors with fears or allergies to dogs and other animals. We schedule clients who are accompanied by an animal on different days than those with a fear/allergy when possible. 

If you have any fears or allergies to animals or if you would like to bring a support animal to your appointment, please note this when filling out the Service Request Form.

Dogs are regularly in the office. The space is vacuumed weekly, and most offices are equipped with an air purifier to reduce dust and dander. 

PEIRSAC is a scent-reduced space. We encourage staff and clients to arrive scent-free, but this is not enforced.  

Our office is located inside a building that is not scent-free. 

We try to limit the amount of scented cleaning products used. 

If you have specific allergies, please let staff know so they can do their best to accommodate. 

The Centre has natural light or low lighting where possible. The hallway uses overhead lighting. 

Sensory stimuli are kept at low levels throughout the Centre. 

Several staff have lived and/or professional experience with neurodivergence. 

Fidget toys are available in offices and in the waiting room. 

Appointments can be held in person or virtually. 

Appointments are generally one hour in length unless specified otherwise. 

Accessing services is voluntary. You are allowed to leave an appointment early, take a break, or end services all-together at any time.

There is an all-gender washroom located inside the Centre that has 2 stalls and a shared sink.

The washroom is only accessible to clients at the Centre and is rarely occupied by more than one person at a time. 

There is a small shelf inside the washroom that contains free pads, tampons, and Naloxone kits. 

PEIRSAC is located very close to the Confederation Centre Grafton Street bus stop. Most of the bus routes make stops at that location.  

If you need assistance navigating what bus to take, reach out to your System Navigator or Therapist. 

If transportation to the Centre is a barrier, please reach out so we can try to make accommodations. 

We do not have any dedicated parking spots. Parking is metered street parking or in the Queen Street Parkade. 

All services are at no-cost to you. 

We can provide support with transportation costs to/from appointments on a case-by-case basis. 

There are snacks available in our waiting room. There is also free coffee, tea, and water.

No identification is required to access our services. However, you may be asked to share personal/contact details during your appointment(s). 

Questions asked are voluntary. If there is a question you are not comfortable answering you don’t have to answer. 

You must be living on PEI to access services.  

Newcomers and Refugees – your status in Canada (no matter what it is) does not prevent you from getting services here as long as you are living on PEI.
